This tour, organized by the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PHZH), aimed to foster collaboration and discussion among educational leaders, focusing on sustainable practices and leadership competencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour began at a school in the German part of Switzerland, where the principals engaged in lively discussions and activities. We participated in a photo categorization exercise that sparked insightful conversations about sustainability. This collaborative start set the tone for the rest of the tour, emphasizing the importance of shared perspectives in leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>On the second day, the group split into two teams to visit schools in the French as well as the Italian part of Switzerland. These visits showcased diverse sustainability practices and provided a rich tapestry of ideas and strategies. The principals observed how different schools implement sustainable practices, gaining valuable insights into effective leadership for sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final day in Zurich was dedicated to synthesizing the insights gained from the school visits. Held at the Zurich University of Teacher Education, this session allowed principals to discuss their observations and receive feedback. The emphasis on open dialogue and respect for diverse viewpoints reinforced the collaborative ethos of the tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the tour, we explored key questions about sustainable school leadership. We examined the competencies required to foster sustainable schools, the structural and cultural features that support sustainability, and how these elements manifest in everyday practices. By linking principals\u2019 observations to theoretical indicators, all participants gained a deeper understanding of sustainable leadership and its practical applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour not only provided valuable insights into sustainable leadership but also strengthened the network of school leaders committed to a sustainable future. As we returned to our respective educational settings, we carried with us a renewed vision and actionable strategies to lead schools towards sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">INFOBOX<br><br>The project <a href=\"https:\/\/phzh.ch\/en\/about-phzh\/topics-and-activities\/projects\/sustainable-leadership\/#:~:text=In%20this%20international%20project%20with%20Linnaeus%20University%20%28SWE%29,develop%20standards%20and%20best%20practices%20for%20sustainable%20schools.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sustainable Leadership<\/a>, led by the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PHZH) in collaboration with Linnaeus University (LNU) and \u00c9ducation21, aims to equip school leaders with the necessary competencies to implement Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within a Whole School Approach. His research and teaching activities involves historical and comparative perspectives on education reforms and school development, where educational leadership is a major theme.
